Tesecon wants this website to be usable by everyone, including people who browse with a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification, or other assistive technology.
The standard we are working to
We are working towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.
What we have done
This site was built with accessibility in mind rather than added afterwards:
- Semantic HTML with a logical heading order on every page
- Full keyboard access — the navigation, the Services dropdown and the mobile menu all work without a mouse, and the mobile menu closes with the Escape key
- A visible focus outline on every link, button and form field
- Alternative text on images
- Motion respected — if your system is set to reduce motion, the home page slideshow and the hover animations stop
- Text that reflows and stays readable down to a 375-pixel-wide screen, with touch targets sized for a phone
- Form fields with real labels rather than placeholder text standing in for them
- Text colours checked against their backgrounds, including the small labels and captions, to meet the AA contrast minimum
Known limitations
We would rather tell you than let you find out:
- Some photographs carried over from our previous website have general alternative text rather than a detailed description.
- The map on our Contact page is supplied by Google and we do not control its accessibility. Our address and phone number are written out on the same page, so the map is never the only way to get that information.
